Aside from expensive damage to your vehicle, you simply will not be able to stop your car in time if you do not have working brakes. Mechanic Replacing Brake Pad

Professional Brake Pad Replacement Gold Coast

When you step on your brake pedal, you may hear a squealing or screeching sound that indicates that your brake pads are nearly worn out.

It is annoying to hear your brakes squeak, but this can also signify that your vehicle is mishandling, compromising your and other road users' safety.

If you don't have your brake pads replaced promptly, it can also lead to further damage to your braking system, so please come and visit our expert team as soon as you start to hear that telltale squealing coming from your brake.

Efficient Brake Flush Fluid Replacement

Brake fluid flushing replaces moisture-laden brake fluid with fresh brake fluid, preventing corrosion and ensuring optimal brake component health. This is of particular importance for traction control systems and other components, including ABS and anti-lock brakes.

To prevent brake system failures, most manufacturers recommend that you flush your brake fluid at least every two years to prevent the brake system from overheating and ultimately failing. Come and see the team at
A1 SuperCheap Tyres for a reliable safety inspection and complete fluid flush to ensure total safety for your family.

Why Functional Car Brakes Are Vitally Important

Brakes are the most important safety feature on your vehicle, and they've been an essential part of all motor vehicles since the first cars were built. Brakes are the only way to make your car slow down and stop safely, which means they're paramount to avoiding accidents on the road and protecting the safety of people both inside and outside of the vehicle.

If you're concerned that your brakes aren't working as they should, it's important to have them checked out as soon as possible. As the vehicle's owner, you're responsible for making sure that your vehicle is safe to drive at all times. If you're in an accident that's caused by your car's faulty brakes, you'll be held accountable for what happens.

What's more, usually brakes aren't that difficult to fix or replace. Often, having them looked at sooner can save you money in the long run. Getting your brakes and brake pads looked at as soon as a problem arises ensures that your brakes are fixed or replaced before the problem worsens and your brakes become dangerous.

Signs That Your Brakes Need Replacement or Repairs

Many people recognise the signs that their brakes need repairs, but do you know how to spot the difference between brakes that need repairing and brakes that need replacing? Some common signs that your vehicle's brakes may need replacing soon include:

  • Excessive pad wear may indicate that your brake pads are reaching the end of their lifespan. You might notice more dust and grinding noises when you apply the brakes.
  • Low fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir or a spongy brake pedal.
  • Leakage around calliper pistons and seals, or rusting around these seals. Leaks like this are usually easier to replace rather than repair because they can cause extensive further damage if not fixed as soon as possible.
  • If your vehicle is showing any of these signs, you may need to have your brakes partially or fully replaced to keep your vehicle safe on the road. An experienced mechanic can advise you on whether repairs or replacements is best in each case.

Gold Coast Brakes FAQs

What are the signs of faulty brakes?

Worn-out brakes can be a serious issue both for the performance of your car and its safety. Some of the most common signs your brakes need some extra professional care include:

  • Decreased braking performance
  • Vibrating or shuddering feeling when braking
  • Braking pedal is either too hard or too soft
  • Noisy brakes
  • Your vehicle pulls to one side when braking

If you notice any of these signs, book your car in at our Gold Coast workshop in Ashmore for a professional brake service.

My brake pedal feels very soft – Should I have them checked?

Soft or spongy brakes are very serious issues and you should always have them professionally inspected as soon as possible. There are many factors that can cause soft or spongy brakes and they are all usually signs of major damage. It could mean that you have air in the brake lines that are stopping the fluid from moving through them properly, it could be a sign of damaged or leaking brake lines and it could also mean there is damage to your callipers, master cylinder or your ABS. Without immediate inspection and repair, your brakes could fail while you are driving.

Why do I hear squeaking when I brake?

Your brakes have a number of components that need to be periodically replaced. Squeaking is common when these components begin to wear out, or when they become coated in dirt or dust (that can cause premature failure of these parts). If you are getting persistent squeaking noises, they could be caused by the material on your brake pads wearing out, which means you are getting metal on metal. If these are not replaced quickly, you can cause major damage to important parts of your brake system. Squealing can also be caused by broken brake clips or issues with your rotors.

How often should I replace my brakes?

The general rule is that all brakes should be replaced after 80,000km, but this is variant on the type of driving that you are doing, how often you drive and the quality of brakes that you have installed. You should have your brakes inspected as part of your routine car servicing, but there are also signs that your brakes might be failing that should not be ignored. These include brakes that feel spongy, hard to engage, squeaking or squealing noises, grinding or when the brake warning light appears on the dash.

What are the most common brake faults?

The most common brake faults in most vehicles include bent brake lines and hoses, dirty or worn brake pads, misadjusted drum brakes, air in the brake lines and frozen pistons in the callipers. There are lots of things that can go wrong with brakes, so getting them checked out by a professional is the only way to correctly diagnose brake faults.
