The general rule of thumb is that you shouldn’t be trying to go up any more than 1.5% or down by more than 2% from your original tyre size.

We are happy to discuss matters of driving performance and driving experience with you, but if the intended change is purely an aesthetic thing, then you may find that you run into some of the practicality problems that we mentioned above.
• At the end of the day, the one thing that you absolutely need to do is visit a garage to get an expert opinion. The last thing you want to do is buy some tyres online and try to swap them out for yourself, because you might not have considered all of the technicalities that need to be checked to make sure that your newly sized tyres are still okay. Even if you check your owner manual, it is still best to get an expert opinion.
